Sr. Project Buyer (Tooling)

We are supporting a global automotive manufacturing company in the search for a Sr Project Buyer (Tooling) to join its Supply Chain Management team in Querétaro.
This role is ideal for a professional with strong experience in tooling procurement and supplier coordination, who enjoys working closely with Engineering and cross-functional project teams, ensuring successful execution from Acquisition through SOP and serial production.
This position offers high visibility within project teams and the opportunity to make a strong impact through cost optimization, supplier performance, and flawless program execution.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and support the procurement of tooling according to internal requirements and program needs
Perform cost and value analysis (VAVE) to identify and execute savings opportunities
Manage tooling suppliers, including follow-up on deadlines, audits, and overall performance tracking
Ensure tooling documentation compliance at supplier sites, including tool tagging and PPAP support documentation
Support Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) to ensure timing alignment for launches and serial production
Collaborate with project teams during acquisition, launch, and series phases to ensure tooling readiness
Support sourcing activities by evaluating tooling and component pricing from external suppliers during acquisition phases
Track sourcing and tooling milestones, ensuring buyers contract parts on time and follow SAP workflow requirements
Profile Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in tooling management and/or technical procurement of tooling.
Strong background in supplier management, cost analysis, and tooling tracking.
Proven experience supporting new project launches from acquisition through SOP.
Proven track record of delivering savings through negotiations and VA/VE initiatives.
Experience working in global, matrixed, and multicultural environments.
Excellent business-level English.
Experience with SAP.
Job Offer:
Salary range of 65,000 - 75,000 pesos.
